The modern mullet: how to wear it
, 1 min read

The mullet is back, and sharper than ever. How a fade keeps it fresh, and how to style it day to day.
Today's mullet isn't the one from old photos. Shorter on top, faded at the sides and with a softer length at the back, it's one of the most asked-for cuts around.
Pick your fade
A burst fade curves around the ear and keeps the length at the back. A taper is softer and more natural. A higher fade gives more contrast and edge.
Styling at home
- Towel-dry, then work a small amount of sea salt spray or texture paste through the top.
- Push the top forward with your fingers for a textured fringe.
- Leave the back natural; it should move, not look set.
